Try doing it at a slightly faster rolling speed. The board behaves much more predictable in this case.

Carving is major with cross stepping. Make sure to setup with a toeside carve then carve heelside and flow with the cross. It will keep you planted on the board.
Make sure to keep your weight straight under you👍🏼
