1. As with most tricks the right speed is better. If you are going fast enough to get 180 without the hand drag you should be golden. 2. You will be on edge, but I wouldn't carve too hard for the 180. But definitely carving for 3s and 5s.

Normally you don't need much speed, just enough to get about a foot of air. I don't like to carve a whole lot when I do it
