A 180° jump from switch stance, performed in backwind position, with the sail and board moving over the wind.
How do it
A new school trick invented by Kiri Thode. It’s a 180 jump from switch stance, performed in backwind position, with the sail and board moving over the wind.
1.
Begin the trick like you would a Funnell. Gain speed, find an area of flat water, bear away, go into switch and duck the sail to backwind.
2.
Shift your weight onto your toes, so that the board carves into the wind. Keep the sail open and move the mast into the wind.
3.
Crouch down, and as soon as the nose almost crosses the wind line, move the sail up, angling the mast windward and pushing the sail with your clew hand to create lift.
4.
While moving the sail, pop off by extending both legs and moving the nose up into the wind. On straight arms, move the sail up and then over your head.
5.
Once in the air, keep your legs straight and continue bringing the sail over yourself.
6.
To stop the spin and land, close the sail, tilt it forward and bend your knees.
