A basic freestyle jump performed from switch stance position.
How do it
A basic freestyle jump performed from switch stance position. Invented and named by 3-x wave world champion Kauli Seadi. The trick is a Spock performed from switch stance. To perform this trick, you need to learn the spock and how to get into switch stance and remain planing.
1.
Gain speed, find an area of flat water, bear off and go into switch, closing the sail and swapping your legs into the straps on the downwind side. Bend your back leg and turn your body windward.
2.
To jump, push off with your back leg, while keeping the sail closed. Once in the air, release your clew hand, bend your back leg and turn your body in the direction of rotation.
3.
Grab the boom on the opposite side, either by having your clew hand go over your mast hand, grabbing over the boom head, or by grabbing the mast under the boom. Tilt the sail to the nose, turning it windward.
4.
When landing, lean towards the nose, bending your front leg knee and extending your back leg. Bend your clew arm and straighten your mast arm. Hold this position during the slide until you turn backwind.
5.
To complete the trick at 360, flip the sail over the nose, like when doing a Switch Helicopter. To complete at 540, shift your weight onto your back foot, turn your body downwind and bring the clew across the wind line. Stop the rotation by closing the sail.
