A 180° rotation in the air performed from Chop Hop by grabbing the opposite side of the boom.
How do it
If you're confident with the Chop Hop, then you can move on to the Vulcan. This will be your first spining jump. You'll need to rotate 180 degrees in the air by grabbing the opposite side of the boom.
1.
Begin to sail halfwind and find some chop for your jump. Prepare for the jump — grab the boom in a wide hold, release the harness, shift your weight over the board and bend your knees.
2.
To jump, push down on the tail with your back foot, close the sail and extend your mast hand forward. As soon as you take off from the water, lower your clew hand and pull up your back foot heel, to raise the tail higher.
3.
When launching off the water, grab the boom on the opposite side, either switching your hand from boom to boom, or by grabbing the mast. Commence the rotation with your head by looking backward. While you're switching your grip and turning your head, you need to also turn your body and board. Do this by sharply bending your back leg, turning the tail upwind. Keep your front leg extended, turn your body and land the nose into the water.
4.
When landing, keep your weight over your bent front leg, and pull your back leg back hard. Close the sail to stop sliding.
5.
Stabilize and change your stance, taking out your back leg out of the foot straps, followed by your front leg.
