It is a variation of waterstart when you keep the board off the wind, get on the board and continue moving clew first.
How do it
If you're flipping the sail and changing your course — and the sail ends up in clew first position, you can quickly and easily perform a water start.
1.
Imagine, that the clew is the mast, and the mast in the clew angle. To perform a water start, support yourself on the sail and close it with you clew hand close the mast, while swimming up to the board. Your body should be positioned between the front and back strap, broadside. Place your back foot on the board and pull it up.
2.
Drive the clew upward and forward with your front hand, and use your back hand to pull the mast towards you. Lean forward towards the bow.
3.
Place your front leg behind the joint and open the sail — bend your clew arm and straighten your mast arm.
4.
Now flip the sail to regular position for the direction you're going in. To do this, lower your front arm and have your back arm turn the sail in front of you. Grab the boom on the opposite side with your free hand, crossing over your back hand. Pull up the sail, close it and begin movement.
