can someone please tell me why it's called BACKSIDE boardslide when you're sliding with your face forward? :)

The "Backside" relates to the position of your board, not your face.

there is a whole controversy here. between wake, skate and snow it has been changed a lot. I think currently though, if you approach with the rail on your back (heels side) and face forward its a BS board slide. if you approach with it on your front (toe side) and face back its a FS board slide. granted, I learned that FS is facing forward as I'm sure you did so do what you want with this info. I'm not entirely sure what is considered correct, or if there even is a correct terminology for this

You are standing with your BACK towards the rail when you approach it. That's how I remember it. :)

BS an FS came from surfing, where there is a wave pushing you forward. Tricks, which are done facing the wave are called FS the others BS. That's why FS 180 (you ending up "facing the wave" because u jump alongside of it in surfing) is the same direction as BS Boardslide.

It is because you approach the rail with it on your back side. If you were to do the same direction boardslide but hit it toe side then it would be a front lip.

Backside boardslide actually is when you are backwards board sliding but you twist your upper body so you can see where to land. ;)
The position of your board
Backside boardslide when you look to the end of the slider Frontside when you have to look over your shoulder to the end of the slider
It's bout your Board Position
All about board position
@arti said it The Best posible way :)
It's coz the bs means that the back of ur wakeboard is behind u
Because you approach real with your back to it
Don't confuse Backside Slide with Backside Rotation. With spins, it's about which part of your body spins towards the handle first. With slides, it's about where the slider is in relation to your board. Imagine you're approaching a slider on the right side of the cable on your heelside edge (right foot forward), and 2 secs before hitting the slider you freeze time and turn your board parallel to the cable:
Your front is facing the cable, your BACK is facing the slider. Voilà: backside slide.
Yeah it's just board position, not rotation.
The board slides across the top of the water
While you are going put your rope to the other hip and lean back
When u approach a feature with it facing your back it is backside
It's about the way your board is facing not you
Hi Man! When you do the boardslide backside it means you took the structure from the outside to the inside of the cable by making a backside in and landing on the structure in the position of boardslide. Instead if you take the structure from the inside of the cable outward and make a backside in there to get over it you're making a lipslide
It’s s bad taste from starters
Il faut que tu regardes ou aller c’est la clef de ce tricks
All about the board position
I think its the position of the board or somthing like that
Because from your approach position your back is towards the rail. If you edging from toe side it will be frontside. (Goofyfoot)
Its basicaly because your standing with your back facing the rail
Cause when you approach the rail, the rail is on your back ‘side’, you ollie from your heel edge. Just like skateboarding. All tricks from with the rail in front of you are frontlib, frontboard etc.
Good question
