I'm scared of going backwards, I know I can land it if I threw it but I'm afraid. I also through them sideways when I get up enough courage.
I used to be like that, learned over 3 times in a foam pit but would freeze up on the tramp. what I did is stand on the tramp and just practice throwing it and looking backwards, try to feel how it would feel without jumping or doing anything. then what you want to do is a back hand spring, but don't go straight over your head, throw it to the side like you said. keep on doing that and making it more and more straight. eventually you will stop using your hands, bam you nailed your first backflip
Try learning a back handspring first, and once you learn that, do the back handspring, but don't put your arms down.
Try going to the side not bouncing and work your what are you up and then go all the way back
