How do it
Any trick, be it on a kicker or jib, starts with the approach. First, you need to determine your step (stride). When approaching a jib obstacle, this is obvious — you can see it clearly. On a kicker, this is less obvious, as you cannot see your landing.
1.
To determine your step, you can: 1) ride up the kicker and stop on it's lip. 2) ask a fellow rider where he begins to accelerate. 3) or best of all — ask him or her to lead you up the kicker, that is, approach and jump after him, at a small distance.
2.
Once you know where you should accelerate from, stick to it and always ride straight. Sound obvious, but many beginners feel they have too many steps and are going to fast, so they brake and land on the knuckle.
3.
When approaching, stand straight, don't fall onto your heels or push down the noses.
4.
Always remember that no matter the obstacle, you'll be pushing off the very edge (the lip).
