Why does it hurt my wrist/hand when I do it

Your hand might not be pointing the right way
Your probably trying to lift with your hand instead of your leg
1. Grab 2. Slip your front foot down 3. jump just with your front foot 4. land it.
try not to lift the board - just grab it and jump. (use your leg more than your arm)
Lift with your legs not your hands

If it hurts it is probably pointing th wrong way, or your just holding it wrong
