Make sure you have a nice wide stance when you step off. The board kinda goes behind and under the knee.

Move your foot faster
Step one : find good foot placement ( my feet personally go close to the side on the end for my front foot and my back foot kinda just in the center of the tails step two: practice stepping off slowly with ur foot a couple inches away from the board, kick the board down and Infront of you but trying to guide it with your back foot when it goes around, the board should stay under you, not going Infront or behind, turn ur body with the board if ur doing a 180 no comply, tutorials on YouTube also
I had to work for this trick hard. My mind set is: 1) try to focus so that the backfoot does not leave the board. You are just gently guiding the board, not kicking it. 2) get your front foot off where the board does not hit you. A light slap on the leg or balls is fine, but you dont want to get it into the way. Protectors are helpful in the beginning!
