You have to jump back towards the board. The higher you jump the better rotation you’ll get. Any type of kickflip variation was hard for me to learn. I practiced hard flips for awhile before I landed one.

it’s because you’re trying to scoop it! It’s definitely a straight down pop trick, just practice your flick and trying to keep it under you, those will help tremendously!
