Like the other guy said, you can swerve while doing the fakie but not to much because that'll cause you to fail, practice going backwards without a quarter ramp just use your feet and when you get good at that try a fakie. Hope this helps

I find it works best when you keep your handlebars as strait as possible

if you can swerve a little bit it will help. but don't swerve too much because it will slow down
practice on a quarter pipe.
Turning
Turn left or right sharp and lean the other way
Turn which way your leaning
Turn ur wheel
If u keep hopping eventually the balance will come normally to u
You must steer when you did that not iTS not clean
Bend your knees and keep the deck straight
Practice over and over
Try to see if you can improve your balance. This might sound weird but if you try and pretend you are on a tightrope wherever you are, your balance will slowly improve and after a while you will be able to do it
Try not jumping you will get in the habit you don't want that and just try try try you will get it sooner than later
What I do is just bring my back wheel up a bit over and over which helps
Lean backwards more and practice alot.
Do little turns with your bars to steady yourself more
