I end up with my scooter going 45 degrees to the ground, until the side of my deck scrapes 😓

If that keeps on happening, just work on going far as you can without using your arms (rolling forwards). To do so, push you body against the middle of the handle bars (without tipping the scooter) and just work on finding you balance point, leaning you whole body as needed. Holding out you arms wide will also help. After that, work on fakie and you shouldn't have to much trouble with said problem. I hope this answered you question, let me know if it didn't.👍

When I was learning fakie I first started just rolling backwards with no spin into it. The hard part is making ur brain get used to turning the bars the opposite way to stay balanced. But after u get muscle memory and balance down it should be fairly easy.
