An overhead rotation forward through your hands.
How do it
The safety roll is a must have skill to have in parkour. The purpose of this roll is to release from your joints most of the impact after landings. It would be better to start practicing this move on ground level, possibly on soft surfaces.
1.
After a drop or a high speed move, land on the balls of your feet. You must maintain forward momentum for the roll to have any purpose.
2.
Lower your body and keep your legs slightly bent to prevent high impacts that could injure your joints.
3.
Place your hands in front of you, creating a diamond shape with them.
4.
Place the forearm that corresponds with the shoulder you are most comfortable rolling with on the ground.
5.
Upon impact you should move your gaze down to your waist line and tuck your chin in.
6.
Pull your shoulder forward with your hands. At the same time push off from your toes.
7.
Roll onto your shoulder in a diagonal motion. Keep your legs tucked to allow a better rotation and less pains to your body.
8.
From your shoulder roll diagonally onto the opposite glute.
9.
Roll up on to one knee, and use the continuing momentum to come up on both feet.
