how do I improve my balance to make sure I don't fall off?

Jeez some of these responses hurt me a little. you want you're front foot to be roughly 45degrees forward, but make sure it's comfortable. Your back foot should point almost completely forward. Tuck your back knee behind your front one, and try to make your chest touch your front knee. Close that air pocket between your chest and knee. Getting better at balancing like this will only come with practice. Good luck :)

You can tight your trucks a little. In the downhill tuck your back foot is straight but your front foot can be a litte sideways but not to much. Keep practicing and you"ll get it down! 😉👊

it really depends on what board you have and how the concave is at the front, what board do u have ? does it have a lot of w concave? it also depends on what feels best to you.
I have a globe drop through board but my trucks are pretty loose so is that a problem?
just one basic thing : stay low
I usually turn my front foot so that its parallel with the wheels, but, I ride goofy, so I'm not sure if it's different regular.
tighten your trucks, and maybe consider investing in some ronin, or caliber trucks
spread your feet thoroughly skateboard
put your front foot sideway and link your knees
always take time to stand on board even not for long time
depending on the board type, whatever your dominant foot is, put it on the front of the board, and the over in the back. if you want to keep from falling off while your feet are in place, put your hands behind your back and grab them to stabilize yourself
I Imagine theres a line in the middle of my board and try to position my front foot heel (Im goofy) and my left foot toes on this imaginary line.m. This gives me more control for the first time I was learning it. Later when you're more confident you can position both of your feet closer in one line (proper downhill Tuck). It is also really important to remember that your chest should be as close as posibble to your knees to prevent wair breaking caused by the gap between your chest and knees
put your front foot towards your front trucks and keep the weight on your front foot .
Make sure your stance is wide enough and you bend your knees. The rest just takes practice and time.
Angle your front foot some, but don't have your toes completely forward, your back foot does not matter as much, but at least keep your toes on the board for good measure.
Try to stay low and keep your frount foot at a angel so that u have more control and your back foot must be completely parallel with the sides of the board, then just stay low and keep your body in a tear drop formation 💧 with your hands at the back and the rest of u in from, and keep low that's very important!
It's all in the thighs man
fall off kindda normal things. always take time to practice balancing yourself
You must put your foot parallel
I would tighten my trucks a little bit then go down small sections of the making sure you dont get speed wobles and keep going from ferther and ferther up the hill till you make sure you dont get speed wobbles from the top
I would stay low, focus on the road and surroundings and just glide and don't think about falling!!
One thing that can help you find your tucking position is to place a footstop on your board, either on the left bolt if you are regular or the right if goofy. Don't buy it, Bolt+bushing+washer will work just fine
Put all the weight to front of board.
Be the board, I like to have several stances when I board. Squatting for balance when causal/ fast casual and heels to toes set at 45 angle faceing front of board. Have fun and enjoy.
Get your truck nut twisted and maybe change bushings for more hard if you feel it needed
Honestly just keep on riding and eventually you'll become comfortable on your board. It may take longer than others but keep at it. If it's the balance aspect then look up on YouTube how to improve balance but other than that listen to the other responses.
Buy a slackline or a balance board, or just skate more
Try starting slow and working up from there, or try experimenting with your stance, although I'm still pretty new to longboarding so that's what helped me
If you put more weight over the front truck you will find it easier.
Lock your back foot in your wheel flares if you have them and keep your core stiff
Try to stow your weigh on a first lag as much as you can.

Work out your core
Tight trucks and always keep your knees bent
Practice standing in the position at slower speeds and work your way up to faster and faster speeds.
Work, is not very complicate
I bought a balance board or you can make one pretty simply. YouTube has some pretty good videos, especially Braille Skateboarding’s balance board video. I started balancing on my board a few mins a day, and a month out I already notice a huge improvement in my longboarding.
Have your back truck tighter then the front and make sure your duro is right for your weight
Carry most of your weight on your front foot this will stop your chances of speed wobble at high speeds. If that doesn’t work than tighten your trucks a bit
Ride more
Make sure your trucks aren’t to loose and make sure you are low
best thing to do is stay low and keep your feet directly over the trucks
Get low, and keep your tuck, plant your front foot hard, and use it to maintain balance.
