When initiating the side make sure your back foot is laying on it's side. You go down and simultaneously carve hard to right(goofy) or left(regular) while kicking out the bored with your back foot and move your free hand across your shoulder as if it is acting like pendulum. NOTE: Moving your free hand moves your arm thus moving your hips and this helps kicking out the board. Your front hand should be behind and to the side. Your weight should be on your front foot and hand. Just keep practicing

Well it’s not really so much what happens first or last because it all happens at pretty much the same time. You want to bed down and put your foot sideways on the board. Your nonsliding had really doesn’t do much because it doesn’t really matters where it is. But after you bend down you lean back while initiating the slide so you keep your balance. Your sliding hand helps keep balance too but more importantly it allows you to lean really far back without eating the pavement.

(Part 2) Try sliding on wet pavement so your wheels don’t grip so much on the ground
