I can't seem to get the foot brake down, no matter how hard I try, my foot always catches the ground. I've tried loads of tips, but no luck

Use your heel instead of your whole foot. Gently put it on the ground, with little to no downward pressure. Add gradual pressure to initiate braking.
Just be gentle.

the first thing you have to do is set foot slowly, then put your heel first and gradually slow down get the feel of it and dont forget the balance of the other leg ☺️🤘🏻

It's always important to wear flat shoes as well when you're skating. I found that when I tried to footbrake in tennis shoes it made balancing my other foot much more difficult

It helps to put your hands on the knee of the leg that's not braking to help you balance. I also used to brace my foot braking ankle against the rail to help stabilize me until I got more confident. Good luck!

Flat shoes help a lot, and keep the foot that your not using as your "brake foot" pointed forward on the board. Brake gently on your other foot slowly applying more pressure

All is said. Touches the ground slooowly with your foot and keep balance.

Start the brake as if you were squatting on one leg and just touch the ground with other foot, always keep the balance

Try to bend the knee of the leg that is on the board and then slowly let your other foot down on to the ground it will feel like it is skidding GOOD LUCK

My answer is already up there. Just put the heel of your foot down slowly and grab the knee of your other leg for balance. It makes it so much easier and stable.

just put the inside tips of your foot on the ground (high pressure but low resistance= less catch and more consistency)

Do the same thing as pushing but put more pressure on your heels. Just remember its the same motion as pushing but you are making more resistance

Use you're heel first
Gently use your heel and tap the ground until your stable and comfortable. Feel it out!
Try to gently put the foot that you are braking with on the ground
If its to hard just drag your toes then go from there 👍
You have to have some decent balance riding the board on one foot first. After that the foot brake will be a ton easier and you'll be able to put your foot down on the ground with just enough force that it'll slide.
Try to blance on ur board that like the basic of breaking then let ur foot down slowly and have ur toes up see if that helps
Drop your foot slowly with front of your foot up try it wen you drive slow. Good luck
Did u try slowing the motion of your foot going down onto the floor
Flat bottom shoes, dig your heel down more than your toes, and whatever you do KEEP YOUR FRONT FOOT ON THE BOARD AND USE YOUR BACK!!
Strenghten your one foot balance skill and then squat to let your foot SLIDE on the ground. Go slow and let it go really slowly at first. You'll do it man💪🏼 don't give up
Try putting your heel down to reduce the chance of catching.
just use the tips of your toes and keep your heel on the board its very stable too
Work on riding with one foot
You might be more successful performing in the foot break if you focus on keeping your foot almost parallel to the ground as you shift your weight onto it to it. it should contact the pavement as level as possible... Being certain to keep just your toes barely lifted so not to snag.
Try practicing on a curb. Balance on the curb with your front foot using your regular stance, and slowly lower down your back foot to the ground. Do this while trying to stay upright with your body leaning a bit forward. First try hovering as close as you can get without touching the ground. Then slowly transfer more weight to that foot. This should help :)
That happened to me when I started out well eventually come to you
Just take it easy break like 2-3 times to stop ( that's personally what I do to not ruin that much my shoes)
Use your heel and not ball or tips of your foot. Don't apply too much pressure in fat at the start barely even touch the ground and incredibly slowly add tiny amounts of pressure. Once you nail that try apply pressure faster for a quicker stop.
It's almost the same as pushing you just keep your feet above the ground and your toes lifted, this helped for me
Keep it slow and steady when applying pressure, I have also found a softer sole makes for a less juddered stop.
Buy normal sneakers, and ride on normal surfases
Do what most others have said .. Just be gradual and slowly add pressure. I've seen so many people that'll just stomp the ground expecting it to work but your shoes grip the ground so just get your balance and slowly place your foot. Usually i set the ball off my foot down first slowly adding pressure. It's best if you have shoes that have a flat sole (skate shoes) and not running or basketball shoes.
It gave me much security by placing my ankle (of the breaking foot) right next to the board on the edge
Make sure u don't push to hard(and if you think of that in a perverted way you are a pervert) and don't stop believeing
You should try slowly applying more of your foot when braking
U should just practice keeping that balance by staying in place on your longboard and lightly touching the floor with your braking foot then when you are ready gain some speed slowly put u foot down to get the feel of it. Always remember to slowly put pressure on your foot otherwise you could easily lose balance. If that doesn't work then you might need different skating shoes
Try doing one leg squads on your moving board so you get te posture
All the technike is by putting your abdomen strong in order to keep youre balance, and also try not to put your foot completely on the ground
Don’t put all your weight on your footbrake. Slowly increase the weight on your foot until you stop.
Put your foot down slightly
I learnt by first just dragging my heel. Let the sole of your shoe graze the ground slowly slowing you down and then from there learn to step and plant your foot
I found it best to flatten ur back feet out and lean onto ur front foot. Slowly place the back foot onto the ground while still leaning on the front foot. Assuming u are regular, make sure to tilt to the left side. This way ur foot won't catch because you are putting any pressure on it.
use your heel it’s the best way to do the foot brake without falling off
Practice, practice and finally practice
Put your heel down first and then put the rest of your foot down. Start with your foot near to the front truck and then let it slowly drag back in til it is next to you then you should apply more force towards the ground until you stop.
Think about it like a soft step
Always focus on keeping your toes up when u put your foot down. And dont put tons of pressure, you arent stepping down but instead having your foot glide against it
Try to always put your heel down first and in front of the other foot. Don’t apply lots of weight, gently place it then slowly put ur weight onto it to slow down. If you’re still having trouble it could be your shoes. If you have very grippy shoes it can catch the ground. Try getting flatter shoes like vans or converse.
