I can do the crosstep in my grass, but when I try to do it while the board is in motion I clamp up, any tips to get use to this motion?

I think my problem lies in my lack of confidence to balance on my left foot. I went out today and tried to ride regular and I'll attempt to balance on my left foot only today too instead of my right foot. Maybe with this extra balance confidence I will be able to make the steps.

Yeah! Doing any sort of new moves on a board will be challenging. There is that mental barrier that blocks most of us, and that is what you are experiencing. Also!! Grass is a great place to think of new steps and dancing, but it is very different from doing it on the pavement. My advice is to just keep working at it. Good luck!!

Your weight mustn't go forward. Try to keep it right under you legs. Also bend you knees.

I used to have the same problem ambassador! My advice is practice a bit on the grass as you do, the part 2 is to do it on a flat area but with no motion at all. If you doing it with out falling, then you are ready for doing it with some speed! Keep shredding!!!

Just do two good pushes and carve toeside then carve heelside and try it. When I was learning it I clamped up too so don't worry its just a matter of beliving in yourself, you got this

Push twice and try to do the crossstep without carving. Once you can do it. Then try to do it with the carve. For me the mentaal barrier was to fall on my back.
Dancing is just getting your body into positions that feel unnatural and awkward. Just carve a lot and keep practicing
loosen up
Its hard to understand how your weight (therefore your balance) shifts when your board is completely stationary in grass. I practice with my board on concrete but holding on to a chair and trying not to move. That way i know -if i do this then my board will fly backwards, let me not-. After being able to do it stationary on concrete ill learn it while moving slowly and build up speed.
