A Flaka with a spin around the sail, regripping it over the clew.
How do it
A Flaka with a spin around the sail, regripping it over the clew. Invented and named after European freestyle champion Kevin Mevissen.
1.
Prepare for the jump — grab the boom in a wide hold, release the harness, bear off and select some chop. When bearing off, tilt the sail inwards to the turn, and close it. Level out the board by straightening your back leg.
2.
Turn the sail windward, extending your mast arm. Bend your clew arm, drawing your shoulder closer to the boom, but make sure not to push the sail.
3.
Once you've jumped, regrip your mast hand over the clew and release your clew hand. Hold the sail in neutral position and rotate around it, holding the sail with your arm bent.
4.
When landing, lean forward and hold your weight over your front leg. Bend your front leg and extend your back leg backward.
5.
Completing the rotation, pull the clew hard and have your free hand grab the boom, somewhere closer to the mast. Grip the sail on the opposite side and close it.
