These are carving turns performed on the water line facing it with your chest or back.
How do it
Before attempting to turn, make sure you've covered riding straight towards the shore and accelerating. Then move on to turning.
1.
Determine your front arm. It's the same as your front leg. Left arm for regular, right arm for goofy.
2.
Pick up as much speed as you can.
3.
Look in the direction of the turn.
4.
Begin reaching with your front arm in the direction of the turn, at a 45 degree angle to the nose. Don't reach across the board, you wil surely fall if you do.
5.
Begin to crouch down and shift your weight in the direction of the turn, the direction you're pointing your hand to. You can reach down towards the board with your back hand — this way you won't forget to crouch down.
6.
Complete the motions and stand up once the board is riding along the wave.
