206 riders can do it
It is a surfing maneuver in which the surfer comes off the bottom turn at 30-50 degrees facing the water line with his or her chest, quickly attacks the lip in the steep section and keeps riding the wave face.
How do it
The snap is a challenging movement that is only done in the steeper sections of the wave. If you choose the section incorrectly, you’re pretty much guaranteed to fail.
1.
Prepare to execute the snap only if you see a sufficiently steep wave in front of you.
2.
Ride down to the bottom of the wave and perform an intense bottom turn.
3.
When performing the bottom turn, look above you or slightly forward and above you.
4.
Begin to stand up and ride upward. Continue to look at the spot you’re riding towards.
5.
Try to direct the board as vertically up the face of the wave as you can. This trick requires a vertical or almost vertical accession.
6.
Wait until half of your board goes over the crest.
7.
Turn your shoulders crosswise to the wave, while simultaneously raising both arms up and pushing the board away with your back leg.
8.
Try to squat down as low as you can when you’re at the top of the wave.
9.
To land the trick, look down the wave, in the direction you’re planning to exit.
