Position when your skis are in a "V" shape with noses about 10cm apart, and tails further apart.
How do it
The simplest way to ride down on alpine skis is to ride in plough position. Many know this as the "pizza/french fries" method.
1.
Start the same way you did in our last exercise. Sidestep up a low slope. Launch. Keep your arms in front. Look in the direction of movement.
2.
As soon as you feel yourself sliding, try to push out the ski tails with your heels. Your toes will turn towards one another. Your knees will contract and face inward. Your goal is to use the inner edge of your skis to increase resistance and stall your slide. Your skis should at this point form the letter V (or a slice of pizza).
3.
The harder your push out your heels and lean into them, the faster and harder you'll brake.
4.
If you're having second thoughts about trying out this exercise on the slope, ask a friend to help you out. He can drag you by the poles on a flat surface while you try to create resistance in "pizza" position.
