A slide where your leading foot grinds between the wheels, with the outward side of the skate directed forward, while your back leg grinds on the outer side of the soul plate.
How do it
For the vast majority of beginners this trick will be the easiest one to learn. First you need to determine which leg will be your support, i.e. which leg you will be placing on the soul plate. Your leading leg grinds between the wheels, with the outward side of the skate directed forward, while your back leg grinds on the outer side of the soul plate.
1.
Before performing this trick imagine your leading leg landing on the obstacle first and the back leg landing second. This will make the entry easier, since the proper position of your back leg is harder to determine. However, do not abuse this technique — the proper way to perform the entry is with both legs simultaneously.
2.
During the grind the back foot provides support and carries most of the weight.
3.
Once you've gotten comfortable, try landing only on your back leg. Grinding with one leg on the obstacle, on the outward side of the soul plate is called a makio.
4.
Take it one step further and catch your hanging leg with your arm — this is called a grab.
